Department of Management Studies
The Department of Management Studies (DMS) is the heart of management education in Myanmar which nurtures business and management professionals with a holistic perspective and versatile in functional areas of business and industry. The department is originated as Research Department since the establishment of Yangon Institute of Economics in 1964. In 1987, the Research Department was transformed into the Department of Management Studies. Since its inception, the DMS has produced management graduates who are currently serving in reputed business organizations both in public and private sector organizations.
The DMS offers both undergraduate and graduate courses to fulfill the intellectual and practical requirements of the business and industry. The DMS operates one bachelor degree programme: Bachelor of Business Administration, one master degree programme: Master of Business Administration (MBA) and two post-graduate diploma programme: Diploma in Management and Administration (DMA); and Post-Graduate Diploma in Human Resources Management (PGDHRM). The DMS launched the first MBA Programme in Myanmar in 1995 and now it offers MBA degree courses under three types of programme: Regular MBA course for fresh graduates, Executive MBA and Online MBA course for experienced working executives, managers, entrepreneurs, and other business leaders who want to hold a full-time job while they earn their degree. Moreover, several business and management certificate courses are offered from two separate centres under the management of DMS, namely Myanmar-India Entrepreneurship Development Centre (MIEDC) and Centre of Excellent for Business Skilled Development (CEBSD).
The DMS is continually endeavoring to develop responsible leaders, managers, entrepreneurs, and professionals who makes a positive contribution to the society.
