Yangon University of Economics celebrated the Myanmar New Year with a generous donation ceremony on 17th April 2023. With the lead of the Rector, Prof. Dr. Tin Tin Htwe, students, staff, and faculty members came together to receive the religious sermons and offer some donations to the monks.
The ceremony took place at the Nilaryatu Hall of the Kamayut campus, where monks from nearby monastery gave the new year sermons and blessed the donors.
The donations included daily necessary items and robes for the monks. At the ceremony, students from the first batch of Master of Insurance (MI) Programme donated 20 lakhs Myanmar Kyats (2,000,000 MMK) for the construction of Dhamma-yone at YUEco, Ywathargyi Campus. MI students also provided Shwe-Yin-Aye satuditha as special new year food to the attendees at the ceremony. The ceremony concluded with a sharing of merit from the monks and university family members.
Overall, the donation ceremony was a great success, demonstrating the spirit of generosity and compassion that lies at the heart of Myanmar New Year and to start the new year with blessings. The university hopes to continue this tradition in the years to come, to make a positive impact to the culture and tradition.
