Brief Report on Student Information Day Event

On 15th September 2022, TOOLKIT Project members at Yangon University of Economics organized a Virtual Student Information Day in the framework of TOOLKIT Project WP5 – Promoting Engagement in International Relations. The major objective of the event is to share the experiences and exposure of the students who successfully completed the Erasmus+ and/or other overseas study and exchange programmes. The event was attended by about 90 participants, belonging to Master Programmes, Under Graduate Programmes, Alumni and Academic staff from the university.

        The event started with welcoming speech by Dr. Tin Tin Htwe, Rector of Yangon University of Economics. In this event, speakers: Dr. Thet Mon Soe, (Alumni, Saitama University, Japan), Daw Khin Thu Thu Thein (Ph.D Student, Capital University of Economics and Business, China), Ko Soe Htet (Post Graduate Student, Eberswalde University, Germany) and Ko Lin Thet Paing (Alumni, Kyung Hee University, Korea) shared their experiences and exposure not only based on their social interaction in the international community but also challenges and issues. Each speaker shared how they could relate their academic knowledge, local knowledge and culture exchange experiences to their career life, their universities, and community.

        In the Q & A session, participants would like to know how to prepare to gain the study abroad opportunity to implement the student mobility for university and how to overcome the challenges and issues faced in studying abroad. Each speaker suggested the participants to build up the necessary knowledge, skill and personal development for relevant programmes. They also suggested to get the timely information about the application process. Finally, the event is concluded with closing remark by the Rector.
